A Big Day
Today’s a big day. It’s a blank canvas just awaiting a mastepiece. Or at least some pretty colors and soft lines. And if I don’t love what I see at the end of the day, I can go another direction with it tomorrow, or paint completely over it and start anew.
My friend Anna wakes up every morning excited and eager to start the day. I envy her for this. My boyfriend Tom wakes up very early, too, thinking of all the things he wants to accomplish, so he can enjoy the rest of his day in leisure. I envy him, too (except for those mornings I want to dream away in peaceful slumber).
If each of us woke up each morning cognizant of the fact that our outlook helps shape (create) our day (future), we would begin to harness more control from the first moment we slip into wakefulness. We would imagine how great the day could possibly be and then go forth with a little more optimism. And this positive thinking, feeling and leaning would have nowhere to go… but into our actions, reactions and interactions with those we encounter.
When someone is kind to you, aren’t you inclined to be kind to them? Try being the initiator. It could travel the globe in that one day of decency.
