What Cats & People Have in Common
It snowed yesterday in my 300-elevation town. This morning it’s 20-something degrees - quite cold for a California valley. But there’s a fluffy white cat chasing invisible things to and fro outside in the blustery wind. My cat, on the other hand, is curled up tightly on my lap.
Certainly, Fluffball outside is having more fun… but Cleo’s as snug as a bug in a rug (as usual).
Aren’t there always pros and cons to our situations in life?! And doesn’t it depend a great deal on how we look at them?!
Cleo likes to sneak outside sometimes, but then she comes running right back in because she’s out of her element out there in the wild. Try to house a free-range (roaming) cat and it will most likely want back out. Then there are those cats roaming the streets looking for a little care and warmth. And those caged inside that just wish someone else in the house would pay some attention to them.
I could probably pinpoint a stage in my life and name one or two people in each of these “cat” scenarios. But where am I going with this? For now, outside to play with the rambuncious white cat… Until I get too cold, at which time I’ll head back in for the warmth and shelter of domestication.
Ah, to have options… what a simple, charmed life!
