Men, Woman, Child, IKEA Dresser

Published by melnoel at 7:37 pm under Appreciation/Gratitude, Perspective Edit This

The men are assembling a dresser from IKEA with 19, 320 parts. It looked like a monster project from the start. Now that it’s all put together, the ‘monster’ in the sum of its parts is even bigger than the mess of the parts. The child wonders if  it’s going to fit in her room. I wonder if it will fit through her doorway.

The cat is hiding under the bed, tired of the men’s expletives and power tools drilling away. Football is on the tube in the ‘background’ keeping their testosterone company, volume resembling the number of parts to monster dresser.

It’s 30 degrees outside - and a balmy 50 inside - but we can’t turn the heat on because the men are hot and sweaty. All that miniscule part assembling, you know.

And the little woman types away about her life, watching it buzz around her, amused at the roles we sometimes play so well. .. and grateful for the yang to her yin, even when it makes little sense to her.
